Uruguay Meats participated in SIAL Paris 2024, one of the world’s most important food and beverage trade shows.
The European Union consolidates its position as the third most important destination for Uruguayan beef. In the last 5 years, Uruguay exported an average of 279 million dollars of beef to the European Union, ranking as the third market in value for this product.
It was there, at Sial Paris 2024, that INAC, together with Uruguay Meats, showcased the best quality of Uruguayan meats for the first time in a tasting on the go for a public that enjoyed a unique experience.
However, the real highlight of the visit was the solution presented by Uruguay for the European Union’s deforestation-free regulation.
This new European Union Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR) standard aims to ensure that EU importers verify that certain farming products are produced on deforestation-free farms.
The solution was presented at a reception organized by INAC and its country meat brand, Uruguay Meats. EU importers and customers were invited to learn about the country’s solution, based on registration and data systems designed with the endorsement of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) and INAC as an articulator of the private and public sectors.
This solution positions Uruguay as a benchmark for good environmental practices in meat production processes.
The presentation also showed the generation of the necessary documentation that exporters will unload and submit to importers, i.e., the declaration of deforestation-free production signed by the MGAP, declaring that the goods in question were produced in compliance with the EUDR regulation.
