Uruguay showcases its premium meats in China at CIIE and FHC 2025

INAC led the promotion of Uruguayan meat in Shanghai, strengthening institutional and commercial ties while receiving recognition for its track record.

The National Meat Institute (INAC) reinforced Uruguay’s presence in the Chinese market through a strong institutional and promotional agenda at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) and Food & Hotel China (FHC) 2025, held in Shanghai from November 5 to 14. These two leading industry events offered a high-impact platform to highlight Uruguay’s high-quality beef and lamb before importers, chefs, distributors, and key-decision makers in China’s food sector.

Uruguayan beef takes center stage at CIIE 2025

In its eighth edition, CIIE reaffirmed its role as China’s premier gateway for high-value food products. At a 250 m² stand, Uruguay presented a curated selection of beef and lamb renowned worldwide for their natural production, safety, and full-chain traceability.

Visitors enjoyed tasting of cuts such as tenderloin, spencer roll, tripe and ovine rib plate, prepared by expert chefs to showcase their texture, tenderness and distinctive flavor.

The stand also featured a private restaurant for exclusive meetings with importers and influential culinary professionals in China. These sessions highlighted the competitive advantages of Uruguayan meat, including sustainable production systems, reliable certifications, and Uruguay’s globally unique individual livestock traceability.

During the expo, INAC received official recognition for its uninterrupted participation since 2018.  Iris Zhang presented the award to INAC President Gastón Scayola, underscoring Uruguay’s contribution to the development of bilateral trade.

As in previous years, Uruguay Meats hosted a reception at the Anandi Hotel, attended by more than 200 guests – including authorities, business leaders, and strategic partners – who enjoyed beef and lamb dishes prepared in both Eastern and Western styles, illustrating the versatility of Uruguayan cuts.

Strategic presence in FHC 2025

From November 12 to 14, Uruguay also stood out at the Food & Hotel China (FHC), a leading trade fair for the foodservice and hospitality segment.
At its 36 m² stand, INAC offered new tastings of premium cuts, reinforcing the message of quality, food safety, and reliability in the Chinese market.

This year, INAC received the “Global Brand of the Year Award”, from Informa Markets– FHC, a distinction that reflects the growing international strength and recognition of the Uruguay brand in the meat sector.

A sustained commitment to China

Uruguay’s participation in CIIE and FHC 2025 reaffirms its long-term commitment to China, the country’s main destination for meat exports.
Through continuous promotional activities, product tastings, and business meetings, INAC strengthens Uruguay’s position as a trusted supplier of high-quality, safe, traceable, and sustainably produced meats.

With a consolidated presence and increasing recognition at China’s most relevant trade fairs, Uruguay continues to build strategic partnerships and open new opportunities for the expansion of its premium meat offering in the Chinese market.
